These terms cover your use of Auri ("the app"), an ebook and PDF reader for Android, published by the developer listed on the app's Google Play page. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not, please uninstall the app.
Auri is a reader for books you already have. It does not sell, supply, or host any books. Your files stay on your device, they belong to you, and the app only ever reads them. The app is provided as it is, free of charge, supported by a single banner advertisement.
Auri opens files you already own or have obtained lawfully — EPUB, PDF, TXT and HTML. It is a reading tool only. No book, text, or other copyrighted work is distributed with the app or made available through it. Where sample public-domain titles appear in store screenshots, those are works out of copyright worldwide, used for illustration.
The books and documents you open remain yours. The app reads them in order to display them and never modifies, uploads, or deletes your original files. Copies the app makes for its own use — for example when you add a book through the file picker — live in the app's private storage and are removed when you remove the book or uninstall the app.
You are responsible for the files you add. You agree not to use Auri to open, store, or read material you do not have the right to possess, and not to use it in a way that infringes anyone's copyright or other rights.
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you control. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the app, and you may not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive its source code except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction.
The app is free and shows a single banner advertisement, served by Google AdMob. What that involves is described in the Privacy Policy. Advertisements are supplied by Google and their content is not chosen, endorsed, or controlled by the developer.
Narration voices, ambient sounds, and the dictionary are optional and downloaded on demand. They are provided for use inside the app only. Downloads consume data and storage on your device; both remain your responsibility.
Read-aloud narration uses your device's own speech engine, or an offline voice you download. If you choose to configure a third-party cloud voice provider using your own API key, your use of that provider is governed by that provider's terms, not these, and any charges it makes are yours to pay.
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, and notes are stored on your device only. They are not backed up to any server, and they can be lost if the app's data is cleared, the app is uninstalled, or the device fails. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
The app may change, and features may be added or removed, in later releases. If these terms change, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the change.
You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it, which removes its local data. The licence granted above ends if you breach these terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes any consumer right you have under the mandatory law of your own country of residence.
